HOW WE SERVE MOMS

01.

MAGAZINE

We make a high-quality, gorgeous print magazine once a year that you won't be able to put down. It'll leave you feeling encouraged, affirmed, inspired, and refreshed. Our stories aim to be inclusive of mothers from around the world with various lifestyles, and we also love to include a messy home or two in every issue. That balance between messy + beautiful? Yeah, we love it.

02.

E-COURSES

We offer e-courses designed to give you a practical guide to motherhood that goes beyond the cliche advice of "it's different for everyone..." without becoming the judgmental "You HAVE to do it this way, or else...", which allows us to take you from feeling overwhelmed to empowered to be the mom you want to be.

03.

COMMUNITY

We offer events in Portland, OR to help you find new mom friends. Online, we offer a curated guide to the best businesses for moms and kids that will become your go-to solutions for everything. We offer a free listing of our favorite mom-blogs that promote the same positive & stylish lifestyle you desire (and have a knack for sharing "real life"-the hard stuff and the good stuff).

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Hi! I'm Mary Boyden- wife to Marten and momma of two little girls (Whimsy- three years old, and Glory-one year old). When I was expecting my first baby, people kept telling me, "Just wait! You'll never sleep again! Kiss your career goodbye! You'll never have time for your passions!" Well- I wasn't willing to accept that my life was now over. Different? Sure! Over? Nope. Creating Momma Bear was my way of fighting back, proving to myself and others that motherhood is more than sleepless nights and sacrifice. I started reaching out to women who I felt exemplified the life I wanted and asked them how they defied the stereotypes of the "overwhelmed and overworked mom" without the chase of perfection.  And something beautiful happened- these women were full of grace, so ready to teach me what they knew. So I took my high school journalism training to use (ha!) and put their stories in a magazine layout. Fast forward two years later, and we were funded by Kickstarter for Issue One. You don't have to be perfect to be a great mom, or to enjoy motherhood. But you do need to have hope. Momma Bear is here to remind you of that hope, even on the hardest of days.

ANNUAL PRINT MAGAZINE FOR MOMS

More like a coffee table book than a traditional glossy floppy magazine, our stories reflect our belief in grace over guilt and community over competition. Each Issue has one hundered and forty pages of quality content that's meant to be read slowly all year long. Paired with a glass of wine or cup of hot (okay, probably cold) coffee when you finally get a moment to yourself, this is one magazine that will have you feeling encouraged, not envious, jealous or defeated. You'll read this feeling like you're listening to a friend share her life with you. You'll be relieved to see a "Pinterest-Perfect" home that has messy floors, just like you. You'll be thinking, "Yes! Finally! I've been thinking about this stuff forever! I'm not alone!" We'll remind you that you don't have to be a perfect mom to be a happy mom, and that you are good enough just the way you are. No, scratch that, you are perfect, just the way you are.

Momma Bear reminds us that it’s OK to still like pretty things and take time for ourselves and to find the joy in motherhood...but in a way that doesn’t make you want to punch someone for being obnoxiously upbeat.
